Gender: female
Character History
Character History: https://steven-universe.fandom.com/wiki/Connie_Maheswaran
Canon Example: https://steven-universe.fandom.com/wiki/Together_Alone
Character Motivation:
Connie has two things that drive her, and one of those, strangely enough, is the nature of the challenge. Whether its academic or physical or even emotional, Connie has a need to try and do what she can to break things down. It’s one of the reasons she thinks of herself as the help rather than the hero: she savors using her knowledge because people underestimate the genius of the plan.
The other more obvious motivator is helping others: Connie, up until meeting Steven, has been a civilian who was happy to blend in. Now that she’s stronger and has an active voice, she uses it as much as she can to help those who need it.
Personality :
With everything that’s happened in her life, Connie is fairly easy going with most situations. Once she gets a grasp of the kind of world she’s living in and what rules it follows, her mind is already racing to adapt to it. She’s also the type of person willing to listen to most people, eager to know where they’re from, what they’ve seen and what they can show her. Among friends, she’s fairly sweet and curious about their world.
In battle, she’s a bit different. Connie is all about assessing what’s in front of her, coming up with a plan and sticking to it. If you give her orders, she’ll try to follow to the detail unless she sees another way that might work best. Fighting-wise, she is diligent and fairly deadly with the weapon she has, although she doesn’t exactly relish hurting others.
Canon Strength/Weaknesses: Connie is loyal to a fault, and strong. She studied and trained to use her muscles just as she would her brain. While a little shaky when it comes to leading the team, she can nonetheless be counted on to do so if needed. As a group Connie feels a little more comfortable, able to assess and aide others during a fight and provide cover if necessary. You can count on her to try and diffuse tense situations, and she’s more likely to try and work out a problem rather than say the first thing that comes to mind. She tends to wants to get to the root of the problem, and will sometimes even cut to the quick in an argument in order to find a more peaceable solution.
In her head though, Connie had always sort of seen herself as an assist rather than a main character. While she doesn’t apply this kind of thinking to her studious personality, it can manifest itself during battle, where she will do her best to protect someone on the team she thinks has a more important role. Connie can also be a bit of a perfectionist, so if she is confident about a plan that goes awry, she’ll take it hard or become rather obsessed with correcting that mistake in a future encounter.
While she can take difficult people a bit better than most, she is still an adolescent and will deal with frustration as one might, depending on the stress of the situation. Moreover, while Connie can understand the predictability of magic and unnamed phenomena, it is clear she prefers logic and things that can be understood and reasoned with.
Apprentice Sorcerer Application
Class: Looking at the lists, I feel that Connie would best fit in the Warrior category. This is essentially what she was trained for, and while she may be a little behind in her training, the instinct to help and to fight if the need is there has never left her. If there is anything that is going to stave off her frustration at not cramming for her future prospects, it’s familiarizing herself with the skills she learned from her teacher.

[It was easy enough to set up the mirror network, it was just a different kind of interface, but that was hardly the most pressing to think about right now.]
Hello. I’m Connie, Connie Maheswaran, and I’m a little confused. I was…I mean, this is a different city, isn’t it? I know what my world looks like and where I live, and that’s enough to know this isn’t anywhere like Beach City, where I’m from.
[Her hand went to her face, a ghosted reaction of when she used to adjust her glasses on her face when she felt nervous].
First of all, I think I should know why I’m here. I mean, if this is a kidnapping, I’d like to know now, since it’ll at least explain how I got here so fast. That’ll explain, well, something anyway, even if it doesn’t explain a lot.
But if I was brought here, I need to know why, and if it’s a whole ‘obligated to help my side’ thing, I invoke my right to an attorney a citizen of the law.
[Assuming the people who brought her here were actually considering following the law at all].
It can’t be magic, I don’t have the ability, and I was just studying. Why would you need a Junior in high school anyway?
[Hmm. Maybe better not mention magic yet].
